The prerequisites for meaningful participation in the hands-on exercises are listed below.
- Active ICER HPCC account
- Basic understanding of the HPCC resource environment and the SLURM scheduler
- Basic competency with GNU/Linux Operating Systems
The learning objectives for this training are listed below.
- Understand the terms and concepts of parallel computing: thread, shared memory, distributed memory, speedup, efficiency, scalability
- Estimate the resources needed for a given parallel computation
- Use the SLURM scheduler to request the appropriate resources for parallel computations
- Use HPCC tools to measure the performance and efficiency of parallel computations
