ICER Research Highlight Video Receives Telly Award

ICER Research Highlight Video Receives Telly Award

We are proud to announce that an ICER Research Highlight documentary short has won a Telly Award in the record-breaking 45th Annual Telly Awards. The video, titled “Renaissance Scientist Tackles Climate Change,” or in Spanish, “El Científico Renacentista Aborda El Cambio Climático,” features sustainability researcher Dr. José Mendoza and was created by ICER Communications Manager Michelle David. Mendoza speaks Spanish and English in the video, which is subtitled to ensure it can be understood by speakers of either language. The short documentary also highlights the impact of Mendoza’s Mexican heritage on his work at Michigan State University.

The Telly Awards honors excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, and production companies. They received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents. The ICER Research Highlight documentary shorts series features the advanced innovation and research possible through the High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC) at Michigan State University (MSU).

Mendoza is working to solve some of the most important questions facing our planet. As a faculty of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and the Department of Physics & Astronomy at MSU, Mendoza uses the laws of nature to develop computational algorithms with machine learning and artificial intelligence focused on tackling climate change through clean energy, nuclear waste separation, sustainable materials, CO2 capture, and much more. You can read the full research highlight article and watch the video here or view the video in the Telly Award Winners Gallery.

ICER is honored and grateful to receive a Telly Award. If you use the HPCC at MSU and would like to be featured in future work, contact the communications department at communications@icer.msu.edu.
