Fall 2025 Cloud Computing Foundations

MSU’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (ICER) and IT Services are offering training opportunities in cloud computing open to all MSU graduate students and postdoctoral research associates. We encourage participants from all disciplines across campus to register.

During the fall of 2025, ICER & IT Services are facilitating a free training program covering foundational cloud computing concepts and skills, open to all Michigan State University graduate students (master’s and PhD) and postdoctoral researchers. Participants have access to official training programs prepared by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and facilitated by ICER with support from IT Services. The program runs from September 16th to December 12th and takes approximately 40 total hours to complete. This is an online-only, asynchronous program where participants complete the modules at their own pace. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and will remain open until the program reaches the 100-participant capacity.

As a part of this ten-week program, you will participate in an asynchronous, module-based training academy with hands-on exercises and labs using AWS that will:

  • Teach you foundational skills in cloud computing with AWS certification opportunities.
  • Aid you in identifying aspects of your research best suited for cloud computing.
  • Aid you in understanding the advantages and limitations of commercial cloud computing regarding research yield, adoption timelines, and cost.
  • Prepare you to apply for the spring semester 2026 CCF Cohort. Note that only those participants who complete the fall semester 2025 CCF program are eligible to apply for the spring semester 2026 CCF cohort.

Interested MSU graduate students and MSU postdoctoral research associates should register using the form linked here: REGISTRATION FORM.

Program registration is open to all MSU graduate students and postdoctoral research associates in accordance with MSU Civil Rights Compliance and MSU's Anti-Discrimination Policy.
