Upcoming HPCC Operating System Upgrade

We are conducting a major operating system (OS) change on the high-performance computing cluster after the end of the 2024 spring semester. Due to the current cluster's operating system end-of-life and additional considerations, we are upgrading the HPCC to a newer Linux OS. As with any major version change, this will require a rebuild of all software used on the cluster. A small subset of the cluster will be upgraded and made available for early testing of software installations and workflows. Upon completion of testing, the cluster will be upgraded using rolling updates.

We will share specific dates and documentation with step-by-step instructions for users when we get closer to the upgrade. Keep an eye on our announcement blog to ensure you do not miss important information. This change will fix lingering issues, support newer software, increase security, and bolster the user experience.
