Before joining ICER, Pat was the technical lead of the data science team in MSU IT Services.  Pat has over 28 years of experience working with research in a variety of IT roles such as lab technician, analyst, database manager, programmer, systems administrator, departmental IT manager and even including ICER Research Consultant from 2015-2018.  He has worked on dozens of research projects and helped or worked with faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students in nearly every college during his career at MSU. 

Pat’s interest is in developing cost-effective IT solutions for data-intensive research with software, hardware, and cloud computing.  He earned his Master’s in Entomology building a taxonomic database of pesticide resistant species and since then has focused on database, data science, and web application development in many fields.  Pat’s focus at ICER is primarily grant-funded software development and data science work.   In addition, he will continue to develop materials for the Cloud Computing Fellowship and assist in ICER as needed.
