Student Teams Develop Software for MSU Research Projects
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the College of Engineering offers their senior design course in which teams of senior computer science majors design, develop, debug, document, and deliver significant software systems for a variety of project sponsors.
The capstone project sponsors include companies external to MSU as well as faculty and research groups within MSU. Project sponsors include Amazon, Auto-Owners Insurance, Google, Microsoft, TechSmith, United Airlines, and many others.
MSU researchers are invited to propose projects for the spring semester of 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for you and your research group to meet some of your software needs.
Visit the course website for the current semester to learn about the types of projects.
See a list of internal MSU projects. Click on a project title to read about a project and click on the Watch the Video link at the top to watch a video about the project.
Learn about the projects from the 2023-2024 academic year by viewing the publication The Capstone Experience.
Project proposals are from one to a few pages long. A template is provided along with examples of previous project proposals.
Commitments to propose and mentor a capstone project for the spring semester are due by Friday, November 15. The written proposals will be due by Friday, December 13.
If you are interested in the possibility of proposing a project and mentoring a student capstone team, email Dr. Wayne Dyksen (dyksen@msu.edu).
