Training Webinar: Python for the HPCC
Michigan State University’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (ICER) is hosting the Spring 2025 Python for the High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC) workshop. This non-credit training webinar provides a hands-on introduction to using Python for high-performance research computing with ICER’s HPCC.
Participants need an active HPCC account to access the HPCC. If you do NOT have an existing account, please see our documentation on Obtaining an HPCC Account.

Prerequisites

Existing MSU ICER HPCC account

Basic understanding of SLURM, ICER HPCC environment

Basic competency with Python and Linux
Learning Objectives

Understand the Python module system on the HPCC

Understand Python environments

Use OnDemand to launch a Jupyter notebook on the HPCC

Perform basic profiling of Python code

Understand basic vectorization in numpy

Use Numba to parallelize a loop
