Home System Migration Complete

ICER has completed data migration from the old home directory servers to the new home system. This should resolve slowdowns that have occurred since the start of the project this past spring. Thank you to our users for your patience during this transition.

Home and research file system operations have returned to normal. This includes disaster recovery replication and our file system quota processes.

Among other benefits, the migration to the new home system resulted in a more energy-efficient high-performance computing center. The previous servers took roughly 30KW of power, and the new system uses only 8KW of power.

While this project is complete, ICER is continuing to improve our storage infrastructure and policies. Please watch for more updates soon on a new solid-state file system we are installing and updates to our storage policies that will provide more options for how you manage your data on the HPCC.
