Changes to the GS21 SCRATCH Filesystem

Do you have data on SCRATCH filesystems that hasn’t been modified in 45 days?

Starting February 15, 2023, this data will be routinely deleted. This is a long-time feature that has been disabled for the last six months. Save your data by moving it into your home or research areas.

What is SCRATCH space?

Sometimes referred to as gs21 scratch, this is a large fast filesystem intended for high I/O, heavy reading, very large files, or a large number of small files. However, it is not backed up and is subject to deletion when it reaches a 45-day-old modified date.

Every user gets 50TB free. This is a great location to stage your data for processing. Further details can be found in our Scratch Space public documentation.
