Seeking Nominations for ICER's New User Advisory Board

Dear Colleagues,

The Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research is creating a User Advisory Board (UAB) that will provide guidance to ICER in its mission to provide exceptional support for MSU's research computing needs, and we are seeking nominations for members of this group. It is our intent that the advisory board will represent the demographics and research interests of our users, and thus the UAB will include students, postdoctoral researchers, staff, and faculty that are users of research computing in their scholarly work or teaching. The UAB will provide guidance relating to all aspects of ICER’s mission - training, consulting, hardware and software infrastructure, and the enhancement of MSU’s national and international presence as it relates to research computing.

ICER User Advisory Board members will be asked to serve a two-year term. They will attend advisory board meetings a few times per year and will additionally be asked to participate in focus group or feedback sessions relating to new ICER systems, training programs, and documentation. We anticipate that the total time commitment will be no more than 20 hours per year.

A link to the nomination form can be found here. We are accepting both self-nominations and nominations of colleagues. There is no limit to the number of nominations from any individual. Once all nominations are collected (with a deadline of September 21, 2022), ICER staff will use these nominations to assemble an advisory board that represents the demographics and research interests of our user population.

Thank you in advance for your nominations!

Regards,
Brian O’Shea
