ICER's Research Story Contest

Calling all ICER users! At the Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (ICER), we know our users are doing incredible work across all fields, and we want to share your work with the public. If you are interested in having your research featured on ICER’s website, newsletter, and social media and submitted for consideration to other channels at MSU such as MSUToday, submit the form below to be considered for the new ICER Research Story Contest!

Judging Criteria

The submission form will ask you to describe your research. Keep the following things in mind when writing the text for your entry.

The readers of ICER’s publications are primarily academics, but most are not experts in your subject matter. MSU’s main channels distribute stories to an even wider audience, including alumni, journalists, and the general public. To reach a broad audience, the writing should be understood by an intelligent high school student.

Our audience is inundated with content from many sources trying to get their attention. The best research stories will make the reader want to keep reading because they are enjoyable, fascinating, and impactful.

Prize

If selected, you will work with ICER’s science communicator to create the final product for publication. This will include a written article, a researcher photo, and in some cases, a video will accompany the article. Winning stories will be featured on ICER’s news channels with over 5,000 viewers and will be submitted for consideration on other MSU channels for further distribution.

Winners will also receive free ICER and MSU swag!

Timeline

The contest will open on May 8, 2024, and close on May 22, 2024. Winners will be scheduled to be featured on ICER's channels periodically over the following months.
