This non-credit, in-person workshop is provided by Michigan State University’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (ICER) and is designed to guide you through adapting Python scripts and workflows for use with ICER’s High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC).

The prerequisites needed for this course are listed below. 

  • Existing MSU ICER HPCC account 
  • Basic competency with Python 
  • Basic understanding of the ICER HPCC environment, Linux and SLURM 

The learning objectives for this course are listed below. 

  • Understand the Python module system on the HPCC 
  • Understand Python environments on the HPCC 
  • Use the OnDemand web portal to launch a Jupyter notebook on the HPCC 
  • Perform basic profiling of Python code 
  • Understand basic vectorization in numpy 
  • Use the Numba package to parallelize a loop 

*** Attendees are required to bring a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop to the workshop ***
