This course will cover the basics of using relational databases such as SQLite and Postgresql to organize and analyze tabular research data.  Topics covered include:

  • What is a relational database?

  • How to filter and analyze a relational database with Structured Query Language (SQL) programming

  • How to insert, delete and modify data

  • How to organize tabular data into linked sub-tables

 

This will be a hands-on course appropriate for Windows, Mac, or Linux using open source tools. Participants will need to bring their own laptop.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with spreadsheets
