This non-credit, in-person workshop is provided by Michigan State University’s Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (ICER) and is designed to introduce you to the Linux operating system and command language for use with ICER’s High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC).

Regsiter by filling out this Google form by January 23, 2023. The same session is offered twice: Tuesday, January 24th, from 10 am-12 pm or Friday, January 27th, from 2 pm-4 pm. You will have the option to select which session you would like to attend on the registration form.

The learning objectives for this course are listed below.
- Understand Linux as a general-purpose operating system
- Understand the basic syntax of the Linux command language
- Use Linux to access ICER’s HPCC
- Define HPCC terminology e.g., core, node, and CPU
- Understand the HPCC structure and file system
- Use Linux to navigate the HPCC and manipulate files
- Use a text editor to create and edit files and scripts
- Understand the HPCC job scheduler
- Use Linux to submit a scheduled job to the HPCC
* Attendees are required to bring a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop to complete the workshop exercises.
