Laura HarrisJob / Position: Director of Training
Dr. Laura K. Harris is the Director of Training for the Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research at Michigan State University.
Dr. Harris is an educator who enjoys developing curriculum that involves use of computational resources. She also enjoys conducting and mentoring others in data science and biomedical research. Her projects use bioinformatic and/or basic laboratory approaches to examine differential gene expression changes associated with antibiotic resistance in a variety of bacterial species, microbial-induced cancer, and more recently SARS-CoV. Dr. Harris is involved with the American Society for Microbiology and has co-authored several educational and scientific papers. She also has received several honors for her leadership excellence including LeadLikeAWoman by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce (2019) and honorary membership to the National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi (2018).
